Fake statement attributed to Hamas leader Osama Hamdan

Social media accounts posted a design attributed to Al Jazeera Palestine, which contained a statement attributed to Hamas leader Osama Hamdan, which read: “Those who came out today against Hamas are being driven by the occupation from dark, closed rooms.” One source of the claim Kashif verified the design and found it to be fabricated, and the statement to be plagiarism. Kashif’s team searched Al Jazeera Palestine’s social media accounts and found no references to the circulating design and statement.   Kashif found that the Al-Jazeera Palestine account on X had published, on 12/11/2023, a design identical to the one currently in circulation, containing the same image of Hamas leader Osama Hamdan, but with a different statement, which read: “Hamas leader Osama Hamdan: There are efforts being made by our brothers in Qatar and Egypt regarding prisoner exchange negotiations.”  An old design of “Al Jazeera Palestine” for one of Osama Hamdan’s statements – published on 12/11/2023 The movement’s Telegram channel, “Tabin – Hamas,” also denied the authenticity of the statement attributed to Hamdan, stressing that it was a false statement that Hamdan did not make, and that official statements and ... عرض المزيد
